The global phenomenon Pokémon, a game first released in Japan in 1996, has grown from the original two titles for Game Boy™ to one of the most popular and successful entertainment brands in the world. It encompasses videogames, mobile apps, the “Pokémon Trading Card Game”, animated series and films, the “Play! Pokémon” championship series and licenced products.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game – PTCG or Pokémon TCG for short – is one of the most successful trading card games in the world and is based on the Pokémon franchise. For example, in 2017, it corned 82% of the European strategic card game market. As of March 2021, more than 34.1 billion Pokémon trading cards were sold worldwide.

Pokémon TCG is a social game, so you need two players to play it. Each player receives a pack of 60 cards comprising Pokémons, Energy and possibly even trainer cards. The cards are also trading cards, and some are even worth tens of thousands of dollars.

This card game is growing in popularity in the Czech market, and the community of collectors and players is rapidly growing.
